As an intermediary platform, JOBBELGANGER brings freelancers together with clients who are looking for stand-in workers for a limited period of time for specific, predefined jobs. The exact process and the necessary framework conditions can be found in our terms of use.

JOBBELGANGER assumes that freelancers are aware that they are self-employed and/or run a business and that they are insured in the event of damage. Generally, this is what is known as business or professional liability insurance.

Since it is of substantial interest for certain clients to only employ freelancers with valid insurance coverage, we ask that the existing insurance policy be uploaded under “Qualifications,” which can be found under “Personal Data.”

It is, however, possible that the insurance policy taken out by the freelancer themselves does not provide sufficient coverage in certain situations. One reason for this could be individual or restrictive contractual conditions, such as certain risk exclusions. It is also possible that the freelancer has not yet considered taking out such insurance or was planning to do so in the future. Perhaps they first wanted test out the platform and then make a decision afterwards.

JOBBELGANGER attaches great importance to offering a high level of service to everyone involved. Ideally, the search for stand-in workers should not be subject to any restrictions. Thus, all freelancers are included in the subsidiary business insurance coverage for the stand-in hours booked through the platform. Clients can thus be sure that if a freelancer does not have their own insurance or has insufficient insurance coverage, additional coverage is provided through JOBBELGANGER. This double security net serves to protect both the freelancers registered on JOBBELGANGER and the companies that are looking for temporary stand-in workers.

The scope of protection offered by the insurance company working in cooperation with JOBBELGANGER, W.R. Berkley Europe AG, is based on market conditions – in this respect, the mandatory settlement or partial settlement by JOBBELGANGER of any damage occurred cannot be guaranteed. In the event that damage occurs, a liability insurance checks the claim to see if it is covered, and – if it is an insured claim – the liability insurer offers coverage, in the form of a claim payment or in the form of defense against unjustified claims.

Furthermore, the liability insurance provided by JOBBELGANGER is subject, among others, to the following regulations:

• all activities included in the job catalog of the sports and fitness sub-area are insured; consequently, this does not apply to the hotel and restaurant sector,
• the scope of the insurance is limited to the European Union,
• a deductible of 250 EUR per damage incident is agreed to for property and financial damage,
• the sum insured is 5,000,000 EUR per claim for personal injury, property damage and financial loss,
• since JOBBELGANGER only serves as an intermediary, damage must always be seen in the context of the contract between the freelancer and the client and must be assessed and regulated in this context,
• the business liability insurance taken out by JOBBELGANGER is to be understood as an offer – a direct claim to JOBBELGANGER is fundamentally excluded.

JOBBELGANGER is endeavoring to extend the offer of subsidiary business liability insurance to all job activities and also other countries. To do so, JOBBELGANGER intends to first gather experience in order to ensure optimal insurance coverage.

In the event that damage occurs, we ask that you provide us with the following documents for review and forwarding to the insurance company within 48 hours by sending them to the email address legal@jobbelganger.org:

• precise description of the damage, location, day and time,
• photos or sketches,
• in the case of a repair, a cost estimate, if possible,
• contact details of the injured party and the person responsible for the damage.
