jobbelganger was conceived as a platform for building a community that benefits both companies and stand-in workers. It’s a win-win!
Of course, this can only be achieved if there are as many participants as possible who want to take advantage of jobbelganger’s benefits.
One way you can help is by personally recommending jobbelganger to your friends. This helps ensure that as many people as possible are aware of our service, which is a great benefit not only to the community but also to you personally!
In connection with this offer, it is very important for freelancers to note that the insurance provided by jobbelganger is subsidiary. This means that in the event of damage, the freelancer’s own professional liability insurance will be used first. The protection offered by jobbelganger is therefore primarily intended to give the client assurance that they will receive help in the event of an accident – of course, according to the respective insurance conditions. This makes booking stand-in workers easier, since clients no longer have to request proof of professional liability insurance. It couldn’t be any simpler.
If damage has occurred, the persons involved commit to do everything possible to clarify what happened and thus enable the insurance company to process and assess the damage.
Your personal data (freelancer) or master data (company) are kept safe with us in accordance with the statutory provisions and with internal security procedures, which we treat with the utmost importance and care.
jobbelganger will never give your data to anyone, except for the job bookings within the intended use of the portal!
This means that your data can never be used by third parties for advertising purposes, statistics or for any other purpose.
There are only two exceptions: The first being when one side unfortunately does something illegal and, as a result, the departments involved approach jobbelganger to obtain information. The second exception would be in the event that damages were claimed in the scope of the commercial liability insurance.
jobbelganger is fully aware of its responsibility regarding data protection – please also read our detailed privacy policy in addition to this section.
jobbelganger is a relatively new portal and needs a certain start-up time in order to be optimally useful to you (also see the section ‚How can I help jobbelganger help me?‘). We would therefore like to kindly ask you to be a bit patient with jobbelganger.
If you have any suggestions for improvement, we would be happy if you let us know before you decide to leave us. Write to us – we are always looking to improve the portal and greatly appreciate your feedback!
Attention freelancers: If you want to take some time to reconsider deleting your account, you have the alternative option of simply putting your account on hold for a while. This has the advantage that you do not receive job placements from jobbelganger, but your settings, ratings, etc. will not be deleted. The option to put your account on hold can be found under your ‚Personal Data.‘
However, if we cannot change your mind, you can also delete your account in your ‚Personal Data‘ (freelancer) or ‚Master Data‘ (company).
If you delete your account, all your personal entries and data as well as your ratings at jobbelganger will be irretrievably deleted. If you choose to register again, you will have to re-enter all your information. Unfortunately, that also means that you will have to start from scratch when it comes to your rating stars.
We are very sorry if you ultimately choose to delete your account, but we still wish you all the best in the future!
In order to be able to rely on jobbelganger’s placement system, it is important to build mutual trust!
That’s why jobbelganger has deliberately designed an extremely simple rating system for freelancers and clients. The rating system is easy to use for the simple reason that you can give a rating quickly and effortlessly.
In return, however, the other party is obligated to give their rating after the stand-in work has been performed.
jobbelganger expects that users will rate each other respectfully and give all rating stars fairly. If the rating system is obviously being abused or in the case that ratings are not completed (especially when this behavior is repeated), jobbelganger reserves the right to temporarily or permanently deny those participants access to the platform.
You will receive the request for a rating by email and via our app if you have activated push notifications. We ask you to please complete your rating within 48 hours if possible.
Visibility: In order to rule out possible retaliatory ratings as much as possible, ratings will only be visible in your account when both sides have provided their rating after the work has been completed. If only one of the parties provides a rating, this one rating will be automatically displayed after ten days. At the same time, the party who did not complete their rating will then be excluded from this rating process.
For the freelancer’s rating, the aspect of ‚punctuality‘ is weighted with 50%, while the other two criteria are each included in the overall assessment with 25%. For the client’s rating, the aspect of ‚equipment‘ is weighted with 40%, with the other two rating points making up the remaining 60%.
A positive overall rating can increase the freelancer’s chances of being preferred in jobbelganger’s search algorithm.
Both clients and freelancers have the option to exclude the other party from a possible booking.
Reasons for this could be, for example, if one party currently has a poor overall rating or if either of the parties has had a negative personal experience with the other.
Please note that you should not be too quick to add a stand-in worker or a company to your blacklist. Think carefully and make an informed, non-emotional decision.
Entries in the blacklist can make it difficult or even impossible for jobbelganger to successfully offer a job placement service. Depending on the time period and the location, it ultimately always depends on how many companies are looking for freelancers for a specific type of job.
You can find details and information on blacklisting at ‚Login\Contra.‘
jobbelganger is aimed at companies, organizations, adult education centers, but also at physical therapy practices, etc., who are looking for a stand-in worker in one of the categories offered at short notice and on an hourly basis.
jobbelganger would also like to be of service to all businesses in the hotel and restaurant sector as well as event management, who are constantly faced with the difficult task of replacing workers in a hurry.
On the other side of the equation are the people who are hoping to temporarily take on stand-in work: people who earn money on the side on an independent basis (freelancers), those who want to learn more about different types of work and those who simply want to diversify their position and work for several companies at the same time.
Anyone can be a freelancer, including people who have a permanent job elsewhere, are currently in school, completing an apprenticeship or course of study or those who are in charge of all of the unpaid work in the home. Thus, it is possible to have a variety of different types of employment at the same time. jobbelganger helps you as a freelancer to create correct invoices for all the jobs you have carried out.
The only way we can improve is by remaining optimistic and keeping our common goal in sight. This is very important to jobbelganger – that’s why we appreciate any constructive criticism and take it very seriously. That’s a promise!
Please write to us using our contact form. We thank you for your time and effort
jobbelganger can, of course, only place you successfully when there is a maximum of potential companies in your area, i.e. within the radius you have selected. You can check yourself to see how many there are by entering the relevant keywords in a search engine and looking at the location of the clients you are interested in. Sometimes just a small adjustment of your radius, located under your ‚Personal Data,‘ can immediately increase your chances of being selected, as you can then be suggested to additional companies looking for a stand-in. Please be sure, however, that you don’t expand your radius beyond where you can feasibly travel.
Keywords could include: hotel/restaurant, guesthouse, catering, food stand, bar, pub, etc. – sports/fitness, fitness studio, fitness course, sports course, etc.
Please also consider whether you have additional times available in which you could take on stand-in hours. jobbelganger appreciates when you add these details to your profile. If you are not sure about your times, you can always choose the ‚request‘ option for your availability.
Check whether you can mark your free times saved in the calendar with a higher availability. jobbelganger gives first priority to those people who have marked their free times with the instant booking option with advanced notice of two days or more. Then come the people with an instant booking of seven days advanced notice and then finally our algorithm selects all the people with the ‚request‘ time option.
Work on improving your rating!
Recommend jobbelganger to others. The more people there are on the platform offering to do stand-in work, the more clients will want to use jobbelganger to find replacements. Don’t worry about creating competition for yourself because the multitude of different jobs and times means that it is very likely that you will receive a booking or request.
jobbelganger offers you the useful service of creating invoices for your stand-in hours that meet the legal requirements.
As soon as your assignment has been successfully carried out, you can generate the invoice for it with one click. With jobbelganger you have the option to combine several jobs within the same company for accounting purposes by sending them together at the end of the month or at a different time.
Remember: If a booked stand-in hour has not been properly completed due to you either not showing up or showing up extremely late, the client will not be obliged to pay for this hour.
Please also note the following: Invoices for clients in other countries can only be generated by jobbelganger if you are not required to collect sales tax in your country. For invoices with VAT that are sent to a client abroad, you would have to create your own invoice. When doing so, pay attention to the use of the reverse charge procedure (for example, including the client’s VAT number on your invoice) and ask your tax advisor/trustee about this.
Invoices that comply with the law must be numbered consecutively so that mix-ups or even the event of a double issue can be ruled out. jobbelganger uses a separate number range for each freelancer. Please take this into account if you create other invoices in addition to those from jobbelganger.
If you would like to use our invoicing service, please enter all the necessary payment information in the fields provided in your ‚Personal Data.‘ Since PayPal is not necessarily a widely used payment method in all countries, we strongly advise you to also provide your bank details.
The bank accounts you list on jobbelganger must always be in your name!
Figure out the best way to get there. Will you go by car, public transport or by bike? Will you walk? What are your parking options? Please plan a time buffer, so that you have some time to get situated before you are expected to begin. Above all, avoid being late!
Do you have the right outfit and any other personal equipment you might need?
Please be aware, for your own sake, that there are industries and also clients that generally frown on conspicuous piercings, tattoos or colorful, trendy hairstyles.
If you are teaching a class in a fitness studio, make absolutely sure that your music source is compatible with the system in your client’s course room. Experience has shown that this is where many problems occur, for example, because CDs are only available to a limited extent on site, Bluetooth connections do not work, cables cannot be connected to every smartphone – and much more.
If you are unsure, just give your client a quick call to clarify any unanswered questions. Doing so also demonstrates your professionalism and concern for making the stand-in hours go as smoothly as possible.

You will be able to see the wage set by the stand-in worker before you complete the booking. Once you have confirmed and the booking has been made, you are obligated to pay for the time booked, regardless of whether the respective times were used by your company in their entirety. For clarification: The stand-in hours booked for a course must be paid regardless of whether members (e.g. fitness center members) participate in the respective course or not. The same applies to stand-in workers in restaurants: You are required to pay the temporary worker in your restaurant in full, even if you gave them permission to leave early. This could be due to the fact that you have fewer guests than you were expecting (though, of course, we all hope that is not the case).
Please note that jobbelganger automatically increases the hourly wage set by a freelancer by 10% in the event they are booked with little advanced notice (immediate booking is possible). This rule does not apply to requests (except for Super Express Inquiries).
Since it is usually not worthwhile for the freelancer to take a job for only a short period of time due to travel expenses, the minimum booking time at jobbelganger is set at 180 minutes in the hotel/restaurant sector and 60 minutes in the sports/fitness sector. This means that even if the stand-in work actually amounts to less than the minimum (less than 180 or 60 minutes), the minimum time applicable for the respective sector is always billed.
If you have booked a stand-in hour and are dissatisfied due to the freelancer not showing up or showing up extremely late, you will not be obligated to pay for this hour.
The minimum booking time at jobbelganger is set at 180 minutes in the hotel/restaurant sector and 60 minutes in the sports/fitness sector. Please also see the section: How is the payment of stand-in hours regulated?
If you are looking for one person for a longer work assignment (e.g. for an entire work shift in a hotel), enter the start and end time of the time period you are looking for in the time fields. jobbelganger will try to find a stand-in for your company – alternatively, you can of course always try to find multiple stand-ins to cover the individual hours.
If you are looking for someone to do a two-hour course lesson at a fitness facility, it could be useful to contact the stand-in worker after you have completed the booking. This will give you the opportunity to discuss, for example, whether the two lesson hours should have different topics. Most freelancers on jobbelganger have listed several topics that they teach.
Sorry, unfortunately that is not possible.
jobbelganger has a special algorithm with which freelancers are selected according to their personal preferences, ratings, time windows (which change daily) and other criteria. This means it is unlikely that jobbelganger will always suggest the same person to you for stand-in hours.
jobbelganger assumes that as a company you carefully weigh your decisions and will also take responsibility for them. Thus, you should think carefully about cancelling the stand-in worker you have reserved in a binding booking.
When making your decision, please remember that the person you booked has reserved their free time for you and could not be booked by any other company for this time. Your stand-in was also likely excited about working for you.
In fairness to our freelancers, we are sure you will understand that jobbelganger requires fair compensation when a booking is cancelled. This protects the portal from impulse bookings and consequent cancellations, which could damage jobbelganger’s credibility. We also want to prevent any harm from coming to our community members.
How much is the compensation? It amounts to half of the originally-agreed-upon invoice amount for the booked job. The freelancer will bill you for this amount. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cancel the job within two hours before the set start time – in this case, you must reimburse the lost wages in full.
Please note that the compensation payments listed by jobbelganger are only to be understood as a suggestion. The legal regulations in this regard are different in all countries and, by their nature, much lengthier. They can often also lead to the obligation of a higher payment.
If, after reading through this information, you are absolutely sure that you do not want to employ your stand-in worker, there is an option to cancel the booking after it has been confirmed (you must be logged in – for further details see ‚Contra‘).
